Good thinking is not simply about having more information. It is about knowing what to do with it.
I explore the often-overlooked mechanics of thinking: the difference between analysis and synthesis, the role of discernment in separating what is relevant from what is merely interesting, and the different ways we arrive at conclusions through deductive, inductive and abductive reasoning.
I also look at how assumptions shape our conclusions, how we recognise patterns without being trapped by them, and how to move from information to understanding, from possibilities to judgement, and from individual thinking to thinking well together.
These are not abstract intellectual exercises. They shape how people solve problems, make decisions, communicate, innovate and respond to complexity.
Through real-world examples, business cases and questions from the world we are living through — including AI, information overload and rapidly changing work — I make the invisible mechanics of thinking visible.
The goal is not to think more. It is to think better — and to become better people to think with.
Ultimately, thinking does not happen in a vacuum. In organisations, the quality of thinking shapes the quality of decisions, collaboration, strategy and communication — and, ultimately, business outcomes.
My talks are designed for organisations and business audiences: leaders, teams and knowledge workers navigating complexity, rapid change and an environment where AI is making information and output increasingly abundant.
The starting point may be the individual, but the bigger question is always the same: how can better thinking strengthen the organisation?
MY TALKS:
THINKING IN COMPLEXITY
How to think when the world refuses to become simple.
THE PROBLEM BEFORE THE SOLUTION
Why organisations often solve the wrong problem very efficiently.
THINKING FOR AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE
Why future thinking starts with how we think today.
WHEN AI THINKS WITH US
What happens to human judgement when machines become better at producing answers.
THE THINKING ERROR
How organisations turn assumptions into decisions — and decisions into expensive mistakes.
FROM INFORMATION TO UNDERSTANDING
Why having more knowledge doesn’t necessarily make us better thinkers.
